so christ there I was on a whaler trying to take pictures of the ol' #3 when I hear (as I am looking through the lense) "um...come up!...oh shit! BEAR OFF!" (or something along those lines) in turn I told the driver of the whaler that when I said to get "close" I didn't mean that we needed to count nose hairs or anything like that!

thanks for the note. I have come across the name Tim Zimmermann whilst surfing the web for sailing chronicles and blogs. Don't remember seeing the site... www.wetasschronicles.com.
I was in Portsmouth when the recent Global Challenge finish. I was sailing with my team watching the boats coming into finishing.
wow! do you have any photos?
unfortunately not on my camera. I think some of my team mates did snap a few... can't remember who though
