last sat. gary and i went out for a great sail. one of the last for sure of the season. the lightn-up has been very empty as of late as you can see from this photo. the east side of angel island is in the forground (for all of you map-savy type folks). it seems today that i will have to wait another week for views such as these...damn.

a view looking up into raccoon straights...see-rat swooping low.

self portrait of a sailho'

here is the 3/4 ounce kite, trimmed well, going deep downwind. if you look away for a second when trimming this sail it will start to fold, if you stare at it it's fine...you may think you have a second to look away and bam the thing knows! and it starts to give you trouble...i love it. this is how we like to keep it...full.

here she is out of the water getting a good cleaning. see the admiral really does clean the boat. doesn't she look like a shark?

winter is setting in

i know i know for alot of people that might read that you are saying..."winter?! what the hell does the sf bay area know of winter...we get winter!!!! those damn pansies out in california don't get winter!"....we get winter let me tell you, and being out on the water in the bay is no picnic when it is cold. so for the next couple of months we are going to take the time to do some much needed boat repairs. gary and i are going to haul he boat today and it may not hit the water again till march. some new lines will be rigged, everything stripped of the boat for a new gel-coat on deck....oooooo, aahh new gel coat (first time since the boat first hit water)...it will be like walking on glue, maybe the hull will get some paint, all winches serviced, the spinaker pole will have all high tech lines and no more sharp wires to cut that for-decking sailho' (there are really only two left but i always seem to find the sharpest part during a jibe), and cleaning glorious cleaning. I shall attempt to document this undertaking the best that i can and perhaps, get some fun pictures of the boat when we take the rig (mast...) down which is always a comedy of ...well...something (wouldn't say errors). there may be a weekend or so left in us but i thought i would give the winter schedule. if you are going to come and visit...wait till the boat is put back together! or come today as this may be the last sail of the season. thats all for now......the sailho'

this was a long while ago but i have been busy damn-it. the following are from a wed. night sail a while ago when we had the eclipse. it was cold this night but we stayed out past dark to have a good look at the moon.

the moon coming up over the horizon about 1/3 eclipsed. at a certain point karl thought it looked like the jack in the box head...then later it looked as if it was wearing a yahmicha (spl? sorry to all the semites)...anyhow we then decided it was "jacobe in the box".

I know it's really hard to see but the little white dot is the moon...love to sail in the dark!
